Shopper in fall wins £3,300 compensation
Louise Windsor was shopping for vegetables at her local store when she slipped and fell, suffering injuries to her left shoulder, neck, arm and hip. She used accident compensation experts, Rapid Solicitors, to make a claim for compensation. A Solicitor at Rapid said: “Mrs Windsor suffered painful injuries from the fall, the effects of which lasted for many months and she had every right to seek damages for her injuries. Her neck and shoulder injuries actually required months of physiotherapy, which we arranged privately at no cost to her. She was lucky nothing was actually broken. Businesses have a legal obligation to ensure their premises are safe for visitors, which includes keeping floors free from slipping hazards. Most shops rightfully take the safety of their customers very seriously, but just occasionally, some fall below the legal requirements and that’s when serious accidents can occur. After visiting Mrs Windsor at home, we then gathered witness statements and further evidence from the store about their cleaning policy, plus medical evidence from one of our orthopaedic experts who examined Mrs Windsor’s injuries. Once we’d done that, we persuaded the Defendants to admit liability and negotiated a settlement for Mrs Windsor. We recovered loss of earnings as well as a sum for her injuries.
