Store shopper wins £30,000 compensation
Norma Davies, 65, of Newcastle was about to eat lunch in a supermarket restaurant with her husband when she slipped on a wet floor and fell causing her to suffer a severe injury to her wrist, hip and shoulder. Mrs Davies said; “I only got up to fetch something from another table and slid on the floor, which was really slippery. As I fell, I naturally put my hand out to break my fall and that’s how I broke my wrist. Unfortunately, It’ll never be the same again and I’ve lost quite a bit of movement.” Mrs Davies called Rapid Solicitors, to help with a claim for compensation for the injury and other losses. When presented with the evidence and having carried out a thorough investigation, the store admitted liability and Mrs Davies was awarded a total of £30,000 for her injuries, including several hundred pounds towards the repair of her wedding ring, which she also damaged in the fall. A spokesperson for Rapid said: “Our client’s injury resulted in permanent, restricted wrist movement and injuries to her hip and shoulder. Her husband had to assist her full-time for 6 months. To a layman it can seem obvious who is to blame. In law this is not always the case but with our detailed and experienced approach we were able to prove negligence on the part of the supermarket. We also made sure that Mrs Davies was assessed by the best medical expert for the job, who was then able to provide us with detailed medical evidence thereby ensuring our client received her rightful compensation in full and without any deductions.”
