£100,000 compensation for cyclist in motorbike collision
Karl Johnson was cycling home from work at 7am one morning, sticking to the cycle lane. As he approached a bridge, he needed to cross the road. An oncoming car slowed to allow him to do so. As he started across, a speeding motorcyclist overtook the car and slammed into Mr Johnson, with such force that he was thrown into the air before landing 30 metres further down the road. He suffered a serious head injury, brain damage, a broken arm and cuts. He took his case for compensation to Rapid Solicitors. A Solicitor for Rapid said: “The Defendants fought the case, attempting to blame our client for negligence. So, that was the first major hurdle to overcome. We employed the services of an accident reconstruction expert to gather the evidence we needed to back up the witness statements which we had gathered. Our client is unlikely to return to his previous job due to his brain injury, so included in his settlement is an element to take into account his future employment prospects.” Mr Johnson said: “Rapid Solicitors are personal injury experts, that’s why I chose them. The case was about to go to court, but Rapid managed to persuade the Defendant’s to admit liability with all the evidence they found. I was in hospital for a long time and off work and have been left with permanent problems.”
