Restaurant worker scalded by deep fat fryer wins £2750 payout
Diane Peters was working in a restaurant, cleaning a deep fat fryer, when she suffered a scald to her arm from hot fat. Mrs Peters explained: “The fryer was switched off but the fat was still very hot. I had to take a piece of the machinery out of the fryer. I was trying to be careful, but the part was defective and didn’t release as it should have done, so it dropped back into the fryer and my arm was splashed with fat. I’ll have permanent scarring.” She contacted Personal Injury Law experts Rapid Solicitors to fight a case for compensation. A Solicitor said: “This was not an easy case to win. The Defendants refused to admit liability at first. Our job was to prepare a case strong enough to persuade them that going to court would not be in their best interests. We brought our experience of industrial machinery to bear to prove that, but for the faulty component, our client’s injury would not have happened. We had a Court case in the pipeline, but the Defendants admitted liability before the case was taken that far and our client was happy with the settlement.”
