Roofer wins £125,000 injury compensation in horror fall case
Peter Jackson was working on a three storey building, when he fell over two storeys from a ladder positioned on a flat-roofed annex below. The ladder had been tied onto the building’s guttering, but he fell when the bottom of the ladder slipped off the lower roof. Mr Jackson suffered severe injury to his wrists, ankles, legs and hip. He said: “I’d warned the manager that the building was too high for ladders. I should have gone with my instincts. I’ve been in almost constant pain since the accident and I’ve been told by the doctors that I’ll have permanent stiffness in my ankles and wrist. I’m really thankful to Rapid Solicitors. The money will tide me over till I can get back to work” Mr Jackson, who underwent months of physiotherapy and operations to fit metal framework to his wrists and ankles, filed a claim for compensation with Personal Injury Law firm Rapid Solicitors. A spokesman for Rapid said: “It was a very good win for us, on behalf of our client. These cases are not always straight forward, even when negligence is admitted. The amount of Mr Jackson’s compensation award reflected how the injuries will probably affect our client for the rest of his life. That determination comes from using our experience to choose the right kind of medical experts to make the assessment. We established that Mr Jackson has a high probability of suffering arthritis and degenerative change in the future which will impact heavily on his day-to-day activities and his work.”
