Shop fitter injured in ceiling collapse wins £8500 compensation
Richard King was working for a firm of shop fitters when a ceiling gave way and crashed onto his back. He suffered severe injuries including damage to his ribs which took months to heal. Richard explained: “I was working by myself on the floor when a big part of the ceiling above me just suddenly gave way and fell down on me. Some guys from another company had been working on it before. It could have just fallen on anyone.” Mr King was so badly injured that he was off work for several months. He contacted personal injury law experts Rapid Solicitors, to pursue a claim for injury compensation. A Solicitor at Rapid said: We pursued our client’s case on the basis that the ceiling had been allowed to become a hazard and that there was no adequate system of inspection to ensure otherwise. We gathered our evidence and persuaded the Defendants to admit liability. We arranged for Mr King to be assessed by the appropriate medical expert, near to where he lived, for the purposes of fairly and accurately valuing his injuries. Mr King was unable to work for several months and so we managed to recover an amount for loss of earnings, as well as for the injury itself. Our client told us he was very pleased with his amount of compensation.”
